Augmented reality game using locations in Maryland Heights, Missouri, to track down zombies!

About This Cartridge

A zombie virus is ravaging the city, and you are the only hope of finding a cure. Find Patient Zero before it is too late!

This cartridge visits several locations in Maryland Heights, mostly along Dorsett Road. The adventure is best handled via car or bike. The story could be walked, but would be at least 12 miles from start to finish.

At the end of the adventure, a geocache is available for signing. This can be logged at the Geocache page: (visit link)

This cartridge was created in 48 hours by one of the teams at the St. Louis Game Jam.

DEVICE NOTES:
* iPhone: Some devices have reported trouble registering one of the zones after saving their game. This should be fixed as of v2.8.
* Android (Toshiba, Samsung, Infinity): No problems reported
* PocketPC: No problems reported (via emulator)
* Garmin Oregon: Inconsistent results. A 550t crashes immediately, while another 450 and 550 worked just fine.

Starting Location

Dorsett Road, Maryland Heights, Missouri, United States

Nicely done. It took me about an hour driving back and forth. Nice activity for a rainy afternoon.

I played it on my iPhone 6 Plus and it worked very well.

I flew in from PA this evening and need to pick my son up from Fort Leonard Wood tomorrow. I’m a sucker for Wherigo caches, especially ones with a good story line, so I decided to do this one before heading down the road.

Thanks for all the time and effort that obviously went into this cartridge. 5 stars here and a favorite point on geocaching.com.

I signed the log 20 Dec 17 because that’s what my watch said, but it was still the 19th in this time zone. Took me about 1.25 hours total to complete it by rental car.

Played this a week or so ago and got to the cache coordinates and the container was MIA. Went back today (after communicating with CO) to sign the log in the replacement container. It was buried under 3-4 inches of ice lol. This was a pretty fun game aside from a lot of driving. I drive a gas hog Dodge Ram (Fred) and he didn't like the amount of gas we used. Thanks to all involved in it's design.

Played this on WhereYouGo on a Le Pan TC970 tablet running Android 2.2. We had a couple of issues with the player.

The first problem was where we lost the message upon arriving at a waypoint. Driving away and navigating to the waypoint again brought up the message again and we continued on.

The second, fatal, problem was where we received no message box or prompt to enter data when we arrived at the "T" location in the "C". I tried the trick of walking away from the "T" waypoint and navigating there again (several times), with the same result.

I went through the inventory of locations and items and tasks to look for other clues to the solution... but found nothing.

We ended up "solving" the cache using the tried-and-true PAF cell call to a previous finder, who was able to direct us from the "T" location to the final.

This was the first WhereIGo for my caching companions, Mean Gene and The Rooter, and only my second WhereIGo. We enjoyed the game, as far as it went, but were disappointed by the technical difficulty preventing us from completing it in the intended fashion.

Thanks, elonka, for creating this adventure. -- roelsch, Saint Charles, MO.

Loved this. I love that it is not linear and that I had to make decisions that may have affected the game and not just enter info to go to the next step. At the final, the game cartridge kept pointing to the middle of the parking lot and I had to get my GPS out and enter the final coords. And then, of course I had to go back to get the code off the log. A great time was had by all--even in the rain.
