This is a tour of some of the notable interments in Minnesota's Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

About This Cartridge

Fort Snelling National Cemetery was established in 1870, encompasses 436.3 acres, and is the resting place of over 200,000 of our nation's heroes.

This tour will take you to the graves of some of the notable people buried within the cemetery. The entire tour is around 2.5 miles long. You are welcome to walk or drive. If driving, please be careful when parking, and be aware that this is an active cemetery, so be respectful of any services in progress. Please respect the speed limits and parking rules.

I was unaware of the historical significance of the cemetery and some of the notable interments at the cemetery until I started investigating it for this geocache. I hope you find it informative as well!

Starting Location

This is the parking lot outside the visitor's center and cemetery offices for Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Played on Andriod with rootee2t. We were both using WhereYouGo and had a great time. Triggers were good, had no problems with the cartridge. Thanks for putting this together for us to enjoy.

Lawson725, IAWarrior and myself are in the area this weekend making a quick MOA run. First time geocaching in Minnesota! We definitely needed more time. Since today is my 40th birthday they let me do some caching. Tired from the mall and usually not to jazzed about geocaching anyway they couldn't say no. It was my birthday ya know.

This morning I got a couple hours to myself and picked up 5 icons in less than two hours. Then I picked everyone up from the hotel and drove over here. This WIG will be the 6th icon and some Virtuals later will make 7. Now that's a nice geocaching day for anyone!

Lawson725 and I have only done 3-4 WIGs so we are still very new to this. She was a bit disappointed when she found out there wouldn't be any questions to answer. I on the other hand respect the historic significance of the men and women that rest here.

There was a woman using the locator and for a second I thought maybe just maybe she was a fellow geocacher. I didn't see her at J.M. so she must not have been.

Thank you for this historic experience today

*Final cache container was broken (lid) so I placed everything into another container and placed it just a bit lower.

Nice day to wander around the cemetery. Interesting to read about all the local celebrities who had a military background. Thanks for developing this cartridge.

This was my first wherigo and I had a fantastic time touring the cemetery. This place really makes one grateful and proud to be an American and a Minnesotan.

Thanks to all who serve and thanks for the wherigo

'tis true...
I am partial to WIGs.
This one ran flawlessly on my Garmin Oregon.
Nicely done.
