Part game, part tour, and part history lesson, this Wherigo will lead you around the "Great Bend" of the San Antonio River Walk. You will unearth clues to the history of the River Walk and study aspects of its design and the designer behind it -- all to prove you are worthy to find...The Lost Treasure of Cabeza de Vaca!

About This Cartridge

You are on the hunt for a treasure that has been lost for nearly 500 years. You will have to study the history of the Paseo de San Antonio (San Antonio River Walk) in order to locate the treasure. This cart is the companion to geocache GC2YBM1.

Starting Location

This cart starts on the east side of the San Antonio River Walk, south of the Alamo. Paid parking is available in the area. The farther you're willing to walk, the less you'll pay.

We had so much fun running back and forth along the riverwalk. We had saved this geocache for last and had bad experiences in the past with poorly conceived Wherigoes. But this one was creative and performed as it should.
The characters were well played and the lessons they taught us were worth the time. We would have missed otherwise.
Only had a few glitches when we forgot to finish an action and tried to perform tasks after we left the area. This caused us to input in the name of that theater about ten times... All our fault though. Thanks so much for keeping this one on the map.

Great game! Took us on a familiar path along the San Antonio River Walk, but showed us stuff we had probably looked at but never "seen". Great history too.

In town for a conference and started this one last night but got hung up early on by one of the questions (plus a large amount of muggles and fading light). I restarted this morning thinking it would be quicker (yes) and cooler (no).

This was a very well put together Whereigo and I enjoyed it thoroughly! I took my time in reading everything and still finished in just over an hour. I had a nice bicycle policeman eyeing me at the final but I waited him out. Like a previous finder I had to go back to the cache page and read the hint before making the grab. Great cache and favorite point for sure! TFTC!!

Nice journey along the Riverwalk. Definitely a must do -- but pick your times carefully, as crowds would make this one very tedious. I think our completion time was maybe on the order of 1.5 hours, though I wasn't watching specifically, as we occasionally strayed for an extra cache or two. It played without issues on my Samsung Galaxy S3, and zone navigation worked fine. I think only once did I have to try to get to a more accessible place to get the zone entry to occur. I did get the same question a couple of times as it seemed to pick up my movements as leaving and entering a zone. Nice combination of history with a few minor problems to solve.

First Wherigo played - thouroughly enjoyed it! Thanks for the step-by-step-help - I get the feeling these could get pretty tough...
