About This Cartridge
Camo tupperware hidden at end of Sabino Canyon Open Space tour.
Five zone, plus easter egg, plus final cache wherigo that will take you on a historical and physical tour of Sabino Canyon Open Space. Complete tour takes less than an hour with about 200 ft total ascent in elevation over a 1.5-mile walk. There are picnic tables near two of the zones.
Nearly all of the the hike is on well laid-out trails that loop through the property. The only bushwhack is at Zone 2, which is about 150 ft off the trail (that is to your left immediately after you enter the gate on the west portion of the property). The given terrain rating is for this particular portion of the hike; the rest of the hike is more of a two star terrain. Please watch out for pointy things when you step off the trail, particularly rusty nails and shards, around the zone 2 area.
This Wherigo has been tested with an android (Samsung 4S/WhereYouGo) and an iPhone running the associated software. If you have not tried a

Drive to Sabino canyon Open Space parking. From I40 in Tijeras, head south on Hwy 14/337 to the Juan Tomas left turn off, go about 1 mile and turn left on FR252; parking is on right in about 0.25 miles.

Turned off screen saver and battery save on Garmin. Saved after each stage. Entered a incorrect answer 4X and the Garmin 550T shut down. A couple more shutdowns but found the final without having to backtrack.

I ran this whereigo on both an android smartphone and a garmin 450T GPS. Both worked fine. I preferred the phone to the GPS. The course is nicely laid out in pretty NM backcountry. Tom

Nice weather for a wherigo. Great spot to be outside and learn something. Great to highlight the open space.
