FTF with the gang at whatever time we found it! This cache is the first 5 star terrain cache I’ve ever found that I truly believe deserves its rating! This cache has also replaced “Always Up For a Pine Tree Cache #3” as my #1 favorite cache (2½ hours, scratches, frustration, misspelled stages, sore necks, dead birds and all)! Having dealt with this series before, I knew the FTF wasn’t likely to happen any time too soon, so today we made it a team effort with Utahsnowflake, drgw3128 and my brother CtClements…and it took every one of us!
I definitely recommend future cachers make this a team effort, or prepare yourself for a beating (and friends just make everything better!). Surprisingly, the hardest stages for me came whenever I climbed past the washer. I was so set on looking higher that I spent several minutes with that stage’s hint right in front of me or below. It also helped that we had a beautiful December Saturday with hardly any muggles!...other than some kids. Kids: “Is there someone in that tree?” Donna: “Yep, we’re just climbing trees.” Kids: “Why?” Donna: “Because we like to climb trees.” Kids: “Wait! There are two people in that tree! And there is a third!!”
We continued pressing through to the final stage, and then finally to the cache! Signed the log, and walked back to the car. Yep, and that’s my hobby. I spend 2 ½ hours walking around climbing trees with friends on a Saturday. All so I can see one more smiley face on a map.
