A dash through Manly to find all the bubblers.

About This Cartridge

You have 20 minutes to find 20 bubblers.

You will get the location of all the bubblers and a stopwatch to help you keep track of time. All you have to do is dash from one bubbler to the next.

There are a few questions to answer on the way through. Just keep your eyes open.

Tell us how many bubblers you found or, if you found all of them, how long it took you.

If you find more than 6 bubblers you get the co-ordinates to the cache. Plus if you find at least 17 bubblers you also earn the bonus co-ordinates to Bubbler Squirt (GC495VD).

Good luck!

What a great Wherigo . A proper countdown timer with bonus boxes to find the more “bubblers” you find. Great idea by the CO

I needed this Wherigo to help with a [Challenge Cache I am working on] (visit link) Seven cache types in each of Seven Countries - and this was my 7th cache-type in Oz 👍
So today, I had 6 hours up my sleeve before my flight to Abu Dhabi from Sydney Airport - which was plenty of time to jump on the Manly Ferry from Circular Quay. Had the boy with me which made for good company during the cruise in Sydney’s gorgeous Winter Sunshine.

From the starting coords in Manly Cove, we were in no hurry, so only managed to amble around 10 of the various bubbly stages before the 20-minute countdown ran out and the Unlock Code popped up, as well as the Final coords.

At GZ, we bumped into one of the local “instructors” who knew about the Geocache and followed us over to make sure we were ok. Our new friend was most helpful with the aquatic task that followed. Job done. Then it was back to the ferry. Really enjoyed the stroll around Cabbage Tree Bay 👍

All in all - a really awesome Wherigo. Nicely done indeed. 😎

Today we headed down to Manly to have a go at the Bubbler Dash. Parked the geomobile on the Manly beachfront (no need for parking fees thanks to last years’ council merger) and then walked over to the starting location near the Manly Art Gallery. Started the Wherigo app on the ipad and, with the stopwatch now running, we all charged off to the first bubbler.

With that one registered it was on to the next, and the next, and the next. Worked our way through the various bubblers, and answering a few questions along the way, until we reached number 10. At that point geomum (owner & operator of our ipad device) was struggling with the hectic pace and, with our time rapidly running out, it was decided that I should take the ipad and continue at top speed to attempt to finish the dash before the clock stopped.

Managed to reach the final (20th) bubbler but, with the stopwatch still running, I was asked one final question. I knew the answer but didn’t know how to bring up the onscreen keyboard to enter it. A very frustrating moment that cost us several minutes in time as I desperately fiddled around with the unfamiliar device. Anyway I finally figured it out, input the answer, and completed the dash with 1 minute & 46 seconds remaining on the stopwatch, so total time taken was 18 minutes & 14 seconds.

By this time the rest of the vk2df geofamily had joined me at the finish line, and we all sat around for a while to recover from the run and to load the Garmin GPSr (well at least I know how to drive that device) with the coords for the final cache location. It was a fair distance over to the cache so we opted to drive, hoping to find a parking spot nearby.

We were lucky to grab a parking spot not too far from the cache location, so we parked the geomobile and headed over for a look. On arrival we spotted something interesting and, on closer inspection, confirmed that we had located the outer “camo” of the cache. Soon figured out what we needed to do, so did those things and was rewarded with CIH. At this point we realised that we had forgotten to bring a pen, so had to borrow one from the friendly staff in the nearby office, and we were then able to sign the log sheet. Everything was then replaced (reset) as we had found it.

Thanks Tyreless for the fun, albeit exhausting, dash and for the cache. Worthy of a Favourite point from us.

Awesome idea. I had high expectations of this from the description... and it lived up to the hype. Started off in tandem with klbooth ... the girls were targeting just 7 bubblers with no running. Us boys intended to go at least to 17. Sadly though i crashed and burned pretty early on. So once we hit seven i grabbed her phone and we set iff. Answered questions. Made a decision on direction and hit 17 with 3 minutes to go. Ran back to try and nab the last ones but ran out of time. But thats ok ... 17 was the target.

Pocked up the bonus and then headed to the final whwre the whole family had fun ... and made the cache go pop. All good here. Now though we are out of water ... if only we knew where a bunbler was ................

[copied from geocaching log entry]
Yesterday I tried my luck looking for the Bubblers. Thanks to my knowledge of Manly, I already knew many of the spots where they were located, so I could live with the sometimes spotty compass (which often showed 0 meters).

Overall the Cartridge ran without problems and was one of the best Where I Go's I've had the pleasure to do so far. I especially liked the multiple-choice for the non numerical answers, because entering text has caused problems with other Cartridges due to Case Sensitivity.

I gave it all I got, because I also wanted to qualify for the Bubbler Squirt Bonus and after a lot of running around I finally found all 20 :). And that in a time of 17 minutes 14 seconds, which I was content with, considering that I had to wait ages at two red lights.

Straight afterwards I went to the GZ, but unfortunately it was very busy with many Muggles bringing their boats in, so I decided to postpone this and went for the Bonus instead.

Today in the afternoon I returned and it was indeed a bit quieter. Unfortunately, the office was closed so I had to do the hard work myself. I looked high and low, but didn't spot anything like a Cache. I decided to go for a walk and come back later. The next try the place was busy again, so I came back after it got dark. I looked everywhere I could think of, but found nothing. However, I didn't want to let it go so easily, because it was a really great experience so far. So I looked at the listing again and noticed the terrain rating. That greatly reduced the search radius and on my last round I suddenly spotted something strange. And indeed, it was the Cache! Or at least it's housing. Thanks to the hint, which I had read long ago, I knew immediately what to do and soon could write my name into the log book.

Thanks so much for this fantastic Where I Go and this creative and cool Final!

[copy of geocaching log] [thanks for including a code this time!]

Today school ended at 2:30 because it was sport day. After school I spent an hour with one of my friends, converting her to a geocacher and finding two caches nearby. As soon as I came home after 3:30 I heard geomum yell "hurry hurry hurry hurry!" and I knew what it was about. About 15 minutes later we were ready and out of the door.

We decided to risk the street parking - it was a fairly rainy day - and luckily we found a spot near the start of the cache. It was then time for our first attempt.

Our first attempt was not so smooth. The iPad (which we had to run with; my GPSr is a garmin dakota and they are about the only advanced garmin that doesn't do whereigo!) kept stuffing up along the way, as in it wouldn't notice you were in the zone of one bubbler or wouldn't give you the question for the next. We also missed a couple bubblers, which didn't add to the fun. It was all a very frustrating and stressful experience, especially with the added pressure of a possible FTF and the reward of finding at least 17 bubblers in time. That first attempt we only found about ten bubblers, which was fine for this cache, but not so fine for Bubbler Squirt. But with the possible FTF we decided to go for this one before trying again to get at least 17.

It was a bit of a walk over, and we were still pretty frustrated with the iPad, but it was a walk with good views and a nice temperature. We arrived at geozone, originally on the wrong level, and it took us a couple minutes to find the cache. Judging on the hint we had suspected that this would be what it was.

We started getting the container. Geoboy went first and went slip sliding down the boat ramp where he fell over, ending up with a nice gash on his arm. I went next, and not thinking that he had fallen over there, did the exact same thing and hurt my hand. It took a couple more trips but finally we got the container, opened up and found we were first to find!! Whoopie!! FTF!! We took the 5 dollar FTF prize (thanks, will spend on our next cache) and signed in as FTF. Then replaced as found.

TFTC Tyreless, unfortunately we made it a lot more stressful than it should have been. It is a really great cache though, and very different to the other 6 wherigos we've done.

Here are some tips for a better experience:

- If your device is stuffing up and you know you will not get enough bubblers for either this cache or Bubbler Squirt, it is a better idea to go back to the starting point if you're near and start again than waiting the remaining minutes and then starting again.

- Do not miss one - it will start coming up with some "you've missed one" messages and it will be hard to continue. If you miss one the first time, identify that one and remember it so you won't miss it the next time. If you know you won't make it and are missing one still - try to figure it out while you have extra time - we put in the distance and degrees into my GPSr when we were stuck to try and figure out where a missing one was

- At geozone, do not run when retrieving the cache!! I must stress this point, as it is not fun sliding down the ramp and you could get a lot worse injuries than we! Tyreless - you should probably include something like this in the description.
