This Wherigo is based upon the legend of St Keyna, from whom Keynsham was named. In this interpretation of events, the player plays the part of Keyna by re-enacting how she exorcised snakes from the forest, so that she may build her home there. All you need to do is go to the center of the woods and find somewhere safe for you home (Geocache GC1MPYF is located nearby).

About This Cartridge

Legend has it that St Keyna was a princess who came to a Saxon town as a Welsh Missionary and asked to be allowed to build a cell in the nearby woods. The local chief tried to discourage Keyna by telling her that the wood was infested with snakes, but Keyna would not be dissuaded. Some time later at her cell in the woods, Keyna showed the chief some ammonites and told him that they were the snakes he had warned her about.

This is my second Wherigo, and a bit experimental, so fingers crossed. I've left my developer tablet item in the game so that you can use to customise settings. I suggest playing through first before customising, because the options give a way a lot about whats unusual about this Wherigo.

The Wherigo is fully playable in builder (zoom in on satellite view to see paths) but I suggest for the first time its best played in real life (where possible).

Tested and built on a Garmin Oregon and Emulator

Make sure you scroll to the bottom of each screen.

Starting Location

Start location for the main game is at the end of an alley leading from a road called "The Brambles".

However, there is an option in the developers tablet that allows you to play with an elemet of this game anywhere.

Lovely day for Wherigos! Snakes were persistent and only one got us though! Due to judicious Saves and Resumes all was not lost and we were a bit more patient...
In common with others we did have a few issues playing the game on our Oregon 550 but with the regular Saves we undertook this didn't cause too much of a problem except on one occasion when the batteries had to come out to force a re-boot. All these issues occurred after visiting the House. Tried to upload the results but failed. Cache found easily particularly as a snake had dislodged it from its hiding place! No back safely.
All credit for setting the adventure-not an easy task. Many thanks for a very enjoyable hour or so at a place we had never previously visited.

We had been patiently waiting for this cache to be re-enabled and were very pleased this week when we saw it was back in play.

We were playing this one on Mr D's Oregon 550 as Mrs D's new 650 doesn't do Wherigos. Quite early on in the game we managed to lose the forester and were then bitten by a snake so had to restart the game. At this point we decided to re-read all the information that was on offer and once we were better equipped we had no problems at all. We particularly enjoyed the puzzle aspect and the atmospheric evil foreboding presence of the snakes added to the enjoyment. We were certainly glad that we'd taken the advice to wear wellies as the wood was extremely muddy and slippery. Thanks for all your effort in setting it up.

WOW!! what a fantastic cache definitely a favorite and boy did Sandvika & myself have lots of doing this one it took 1hr and half to complete plus it was very muddy which made more fun whilst dodging the snakes we both got bit badly several times. We kept saving the game and used several batteries in the process, however I did try and use my Iphone but gave up & stuck to my oregon 550t instead.I thought at one point that I had lost everything then whilst at the foresters house it caught up and I was very pleased to be able to complete the cartridge. This was just a such a very well thought through wherigo thank you for all the hard work that went into it.This was bar far the best cache of the day.

My first Wherigo. I tried to play it on the iPhone, but it didn't fully work - I could say hello to the Forester but that was all. Definitely an iPhone problem as it works fine on the Emulator.
