This cartridge has been developed to help ascertain at what point different devices and units will crash due to exceeding certain text size limits.
My current view on maximum safe text length is 850 characters.
Please bear in mind that if you are using concatenation, e.g. by inserting variables into text - you need to account for the maximum possible end-state length for the message.

I was able to do 6100 and then I stopped the player. iPhone 10s plus. My question what percentage of WIG players are using Garmin vs Smartphones? If smartphones have the majority (I’m guess that Garmin might be 10% or less) then why not write the WIG for smartphones which have a quicker microprocessor then the Garmin?

This is very interesting. I am trying to write a Wherigo that is somewhat bigger than I have tried before. My main theory it that it is too much graphics that courses my freezing problems (gwc file size is 1223 kb). Anyway that is why I started searching for experience with Oregon crashing, and came here. I have a Garmin Oregon 550 and the standard text 950 was ok, 1000 made it do a complete shut down. The concatenation test: The last thing I saw was 950, then it shut down.

Hi, I'm trying to develop for a Garmin Oregon 550t, and it's giving me conniptions. In running this test, with concatenation, it gets up to 910 and then shuts off.
For the other test though, with standard text strings, the first time I tried, it crashed (froze) as soon as I tapped "Actions". After rebooting, it got past Actions to the actual test, and got up to displaying 950 characters before shutting off. It's intermittent: Most of the time the standard test fails at the Actions page, but every so often it works. No idea why...
Thanks for making this test app, it's definitely helpful.
