A simple introduction to historic Ammanford town in South Wales, United Kingdom. The published coordinates are roughly where the historic photo that accompanies the cartridge was taken - less than a minute from the first starting point. This cartridge leads to a physical Geocache (GC1XFP).

About This Cartridge

Visiting each location will be sufficient to complete this cartridge, but I encourage you to spend time reading and seeing some of the history that's still visible to see today. There are three distinct themed segments - completion of each segment will activate new locations for you to visit. It's up to you whether you walk from location to location or whether you drive (the first two segments can be completed well within an hour by foot).

On visiting all locations, you can submit your save file to whereigo.com to register the fact that you've completed this cartdridge. Additionally, the cordinates for a final Geocache will also be revealed, hopefully not too far from the end of your journey into Ammanford's history!

Starting Location

The main starting location is Ammanford Square, right in the centre of town. From here, various locations will be made available to you in three main sections - completion of one section will reveal another.

That was interesting, I now know a lot more about Ammanford than I did before.
I enjoy wherigo's, this has been my third one, I just wish there were more near me.

We really enjoyed this wherigo, it took us to lots of interesting places, we walked to some locations and drove to the rest. I really liked the stone circle and the bouncy bridge. Many thanks for setting this up for us to enjoy.

Pleasant early morning walk and soon had the final co-ords.
Parked closer for the final location and it was a very boggy walk down to GZ.

Phew, opted for the easier - by car - method of getting this Wherigo, the first that I have managed to complete.

An enjoyable experience as I thought I knew Ammanford quite well, so it was good to have an update on what has gone, what is new, and pointers to things I never knew.

Very informative, a lot of work and effort must have gone into building this cartridge.

I completed this using my iPhone and didn't think I was ever going to get the cartridge save file to allow me to log this as a find on here - no unlock code was shown, and we lost the screen with the final co-ords on my device in a moment, and was not able to get it back on-screen after toggling to a different app to input co-ords for the final!

Luckily we had played it using two devices and we still had the necessary info on the screen of the other device! (So we took a photo of it just in case!)

(FYI the save file can be found on the APPS screen in iTunes - Wherigo and the little GWS file can be dragged and dropped to your desktop or a folder of your choice!)

We will have to return to The Experiment and try that one again! We were so close last time when we were hit by the Gremlins!

Thanks for the game!

Em

Hey-ho First to Find @ 10:47.
It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it (where were all the Swansea crowd??). Braved the torrential rain to reward EP's efforts - only showers when we got to Ammanford. Lots of info on route - spent more time reading than walking! (but very interesting). Glad we did third section by car. Searched for a while for cache as coords seemed a little out, but the hint ( and stickoflage ) helped.
