Oh boy, what an epic adventure. How do we properly describe this top cache experience in Portugal? It consists of three parts.

First we started planning our cycle trip from Porto to Lisboa at home by also looking at the geocaching map. We easily selected this well rated cache in Porto to guide us along the main sights. On top of that it is also a Wherigo cache and this is our favorite cache type. The plan was made that this would be the main target of our day in Porto.

Part two started in Porto with charging all devices to full power and allow for enough time and both soon proved to be necessary. The cartridge guides you to all the top sights you would normally do as a tourist but you now have your personal guide who points out the little details and the background story... and all of this within the great setting of the Templars that fit the sights of Porto so well! The extra power packs are also needed because you can not stop taking pictures along the way. This continued for hours and we felt we were nearing the final when we had to solve the riddle of the Torre dos Clerigos. But this was our black beast and we failed miserably. Was it the starting rain that blurred our vision or were we taken by the Tavoras or Jesuits who were trying to sabotage our holy mission? The fact is that we had to abort and contact the CO for guidance. Silvana swiftly replied to our distress call but by that time we were already cycling southwards along the coast.

10 days later, back in Porto and some time left for part three starting from the Torre dos Clerigos again. This time the message from St Paul was immediately revealed and we felt ashamed that we failed it before. Silvana not only gave us a hint but full disclosure (but we will not disclose in this log what was our problem. The Jesuits might be reading this as well) After that hurdle the final quest was swift and we soon found ourselves at the lovely and nicely given secret box and kneeled for The Master.

And not only the virtual character of the cartridge but especially for the Wherigo virtuoso and master cartridge creator. This is very well done and one of the most epic Wherigos we played. A tip for the next players: do not only navigate to and activate your player at the next zone but also keep it alive in between as you will experience some fine surprises in hidden zones. We enjoyed the fortune telling gipsy, the beggar,... and other colorful characters.

As we also published several Wherigo cartridges we know the effort it takes to make such a beautiful and perfectly working cartridge: one favorite point is not enough to express our gratitude and respect for this great work!
