I FINALLY FOUND IT!!! It's only taken me 3 years!

As you can see from the log below I installed this WhereIGo cartridge back in 2016. It was my first WhereIGo and one of the closest caches to home so thought this would be an easy one to get. It took me a few tries to work out how not to die in the game but over a few months I managed to complete everything up to the end, but couldn't work out how to get through the final part. Eventually, after a year or so, I asked for some help on a facebook geocaching page and someone gave me a hint. Off I went to play the game for probably the 10th time and finally managed to complete it! I was so happy! Then to the GZ, but it put me in the middle of a patch of nettles. I gingerly had a look around the area but thought I would wait until the winter to have a better look. That winter came and went and after another couple of attempts of trying to find it I sort of gave up.
Then a few weeks ago I was wandering along the canal in the late evening with my partner and thought I'd have another look. He wasn't too impressed at being asked to looking for another cache in the dark and cold so it wasn't too long till I gave up again. Then I realised I was getting close to my 1000th milestone so, at the New Years Event at the Loony Dook, I asked a couple of cachers for another hint. I went back this evening and found it straight away but as could have been predicted with this cache I wasn't able to fish it out. So off home I went, to arm myself with tools. I'm an electrician so almost planned to bring my whole toolbag but thought some needlenosed pliers and a screwdriver would suffice. I was so happy to log this nemesis for my milestone after at least 10 attempts to complete the cartridge and another 7 to find the cache. I think I made this much more difficult than it needed to be, but I will reiterate the CO's comment from 08/06/16, it is easily accessible from the path. I think on a sunny day I might just go play the cartridge again to say hi to the main character one last time.
Thanks, Roolku for the adventure and the brilliant cartridge. FP awarded

DNF log from 03/05/16:
Well, I've tried this cartridge 4 times now and I can't work out how to complete it. It doesn't look like it's crashing but I'm also not able to do anything with the ice block, or at least I can't work out how to use it. It's more annoying because I really love the adventure of this whereigo and want to find the cache. Maybe I will one day.

After a few attempts at this old fellas first Wherigo I finally managed to finish it yesterday.Boy that ice Block bit nearly had me tearing my hair out. Was nearly on point giving up tried one more tactic and it worked.:)
Park was very busy with Pokémon Go hunters which kind of helped me to cache hunt under cover.:)

Found cache signed log and then headed of to do the bonus cache Sir Harry`s Treasure, that was a bit of a hike for me but after few rest stops and getting on the right path I was finally rewarded with a find.
A Treasure well worth the effort and hard work many thanks for this adventure.:)

We really like wherigo caches, so this has been on our 'To do List' for a long long time . Today was our last day in Edinburgh and then we faced the long journey back to 'The Midlands' . We were a little concerned as to how long this one would take after reading the description and knowing we could die at any point in the game, as we still had a list of must do caches while in Edinburgh. However, having played 'Sir Harrison's Legacy in Alicante we knew exactly what to do here

While we were having breakfast that morning I had been telling [Monki] all about the Sir Harrison's wherigo as it is one of my all time favorite wherigo caches and we have played over 200 now It was great to have another go at playing this one in Scotland, I hasten to add we avoided the dangerous pit

We finally had the final co-ords and a quick find here for Mr unowho.

This was one of the wherigos we played on our road trip around Scotland.

What can we say, this wherigo was a brilliantly frustrating RPG. Mrs D came to a very sticky end quite early on in the game (don't you just hate it when that happens?) so had to restart, then there were further issues with her iPhone so she played on the Oregon 550. We thought we'd visited every zone and after a bit of head scratching and going backwards and forwards we thought we'd reached stalemate then a chance encounter with another character in the game gave us an idea on how to continue and it was plain sailing after that. A great sense of achievement to complete it.

Having created many of our own wherigos we fully appreciate the time and effort that has gone into setting this one up for us to enjoy.

We first tried this Wherigo last year and failed at the final hurdle. I think it was because we were using the Garmin Oregon 450, but it might have been a random bug. This time I was on my own and had to retrace my steps, this time with my Android HTC Wildfire-S phone. It was a better player than the GPS as it had proper sound.
The park was busy but no one paid me much attention as I went to and fro on foot and bike (I could have locked it up, but it saved a bit of time).
Eventually I reached the same point where we failed before. But this time - success!
Thanks for the imagination and work that has gone into this game.

Our first ever WhereIGo and brilliant fun.

A great adventure and the gameplay was well laid out and easy to follow.

Having explored the park last week we were a little unsure as to our next step and a nudge from the CO that we were doing things correct had us back again today.

No more than twenty minutes today and the tasks were complete and we were signing the log book.

A brilliant adventure and we will definitely be hunting down more of this type of cache in the future.

One favourite point just doesn't seem sufficient.

Thanks for a great time.

My first Wherigo and I absolutely loved it. A few of the steps took several attempts to complete but that only served to lengthen my enjoyment.
I've been thinking of setting a Wherigo for a while as there aren't many around, and this has spurred me on.
Thanks for taking the time to create it

Woohoo! My first ever Wherigo! And a bit of an epic. Wherigos had barely crossed my radar in the nearly three years since I started caching, but I'm starting to run out of traditionals in Edinburgh, and am seeing lots of multis and a few less mysteries, all of which I'm slowly addressing, and it felt like I'd wound the clock back to February 2009 as I pressed the "Wherigo" button on my GPS.

I started the tutorial, but didn't get too far with it as another cache intervened, so decided to go to Harrison Park to see what I could achieve. Well nothing to start off with, until I got a nudge from marmal (this seems to be happening a lot!) and away I went.

Things went very well and I kept alive, but was beaten by the dark, so on liaising with marmal, discovered he'd got to much the same stage and we arranged to go together for a further exploration.

It was a grand day - nippy, but sunny - and we to-ed and fro-ed around the place feeling Brave and Noble. I ventured towards a place I needed to be and got the giggles as there was a Blue Meanie sitting on a bench just right by it. He must have wondered what on earth I was doing as I kept returning, and then marmal joined in. But we both reckoned he should have work to do, so didn't bother about him for too long.

Then I was hailed by a young girl:

"Excuse me - do you like gnomes?"
"Gnomes?!"
"No - cloves"
"You mean the things you eat?"
"Aye"
"Not really"
"We have some clove sweeties and don't really like them"
"Ach - you're all right, thanks."

Perhaps they'd have helped us find the missing link, but it eluded us, and eventually, having tried what we reckoned were all the options, time was against us again and we called it a day.

Third time lucky today. We had our master plan and put it into action.

BIG FAT FAIL and two puffing cachers.

Time for a PAF. Confirmation came through that we'd done exactly the right thing (as we did last time too).

Try again.

Puff puff puff puff *trip over skeleton* gasp puff gasp.

SUCCESS!

And with that, my first Wherigo comes to a happy conclusion.

The invoice for my cardiac treatment will follow shortly.
