No magic, no dragons, just an ordinary walk in the Park. (cartridge for GC24EH9)

About This Cartridge

You are a visitor of the park. Take a stroll and enjoy the scenery. If you come across other (virtual) people or find any (virtual) items just behave as you would in real life (within the limits of the interface. :) ). Good deeds will be rewarded and on successful completion of the cartridge you will receive the coordinates of a (real) micro cache. The wherigo will present you with a list of tasks as the story unfolds. The story is non-linear and zones can be visited in any order, so turn your device on as soon as you enter the park through any of the entrances in the north, south, east or west.

Starting Location

Braidburn Valley Park has been a public park since 1933. It is located in South Edinburgh in the Morningside/Oxgangs area. The Park is a steep grassy valley cut in two by the Braid Burn which flows north from the Pentland Hills to the Firth of Forth.

This took us a lot longer than we thought, but we made steady progress and enjoyed the various stages of the game. I particularly liked the graphics at the point where you had to scare off the character with the knife.

We really like wherigo caches so this has been on our 'To do List' for a long long time. We set off and took our big umbrella as there was a big black cloud looming. It all started off well, then the heavens opened, so me and Mr unowho were huddled under the big brolly playing on the iphone and Oregon. This was a quite involved wherigo and you had to pay attention as to what was required, some easier tasks than others. After about 1.5 hours and walking backwards and forwards several times, chatting to William we finally had the co-ords. It was a nice quick find at GZ, now off for a lovely Carvery

Many thanks for all your hard work setting up this wherigo for us to enjoy today

This Wherigo was quite challenging but very clever and we were about 1½ hours into it before we made any real progress, then we picked up something that helped us and it was plain sailing the rest of the way. Mrs D had a few problems which meant she couldn't complete it on her iPhone so we continued with Mr D's Samsung, we suspect this was more to do with the chain of events rather than a fault with the player. The Oregon just didn't want to play it at all.

Although frustrating at times, after persevering for so long it was rewarding to finally get the coordinates. If anyone had been watching us they'd have wondered why we were going round and round in circles and backwards and forwards for so long in the park but we don't think anybody really cared.

Having created many of our own Wherigos we fully appreciate the time and effort that has gone into setting this one up for us to enjoy.

This was my last day with an unfound cache before completing the grid and in honour of it, I met up with OnHisBike, Roseacre, cooltshirt and The Searchdog where we spent a chilly morning to-ing and fro-ing and trying to do good deeds.

Other than a number of dog walkers, we had the place pretty much to ourselves as it tried to snow, and had a most enjoyable time. As with many Wherigos, it's more fun to play with others, although perfectly solvable alone.
