About This Cartridge

To access this cartridge you must first finish the Myst cartridge and get the password from the Selentic Journal.

This is the only Age that was naturally uninhabited at the time The D'ni linked to it. In their journals they describe feeling uneasy in this Age upon first arriving. Shortly after their arrival, a massive meteor storm changed the face of the island considerably. What was once a lush and green landscape was transformed into a brown and barren land, with the exception of one small area which The D'ni later called the Oasis.

This cartridge was created using Earwigo and tested using the Wherigo Builder Emulator and Wherigo Cartridge Player (PiGo) on an iPhone 4.

I had to pick up my wife and daughter from the airport very late tonight, so I decided to take the opportunity to cache my way up here early and play as many Wherigos as I had time for. As it turned out, that equated to 2 completions and a partial on a 3rd one. I started with “Myst” since it is the prerequisite for 3 others. Traffic was ridiculous coming through Denver, so I didn’t get started until sunset. “Myst” took me 2 hours to complete, so by the time I got started here, it was completely dark out with no moon to help either.

The cartridge worked perfectly with very few technical issues. The only issue I had was when clicking “replay sound” repeatedly, the cartridge would crash and need to be restarted. The good news was that when that happened, it started me back up right where it crashed, so I didn’t need to re-do anything.

I took good notes along the way (more than necessary as it turned out) so I was able to easily get past the parts that probably get most people stuck. As soon as I completed the cartridge and found the container (after 10 pm), I needed to hurry up and get to the airport to pick up the girls.

Playing this cartridge reminded me of the very best Wherigo that I ever played which was called, "The Legend of Helga" (GC2GXCZ) located in San Antonio, TX. Playing this Wherigo, combined with going back and reading old logs from "Helga" has rekindled my efforts to write an epic adventure Wherigo of my own. So far, my Wherigo creation endeavors have been limited to a tour of the Alamo and some virtual tours of our solar system, but I think adventure-type Wherigos are the best kind.

I played the cartridge on my iPhone 4 using the wherigo app. I liked the feature that the completion code is saved in my inventory at the end of the game, but liked even more that I was able to unlock the cartridge on wherigo.com by uploading my saved game right from my iPhone.

Thanks for creating these; I'll plan my trip back up here to do the rest of them once the construction is no longer a hindrance at the other 2 expansions.

I enjoyed walking around doing this one. The completion code to unlock the module is always the first 15 digits, and I am learning that I works better than 1, and O works better than 0 for the code. It is opposite for geocaches where the numbers are used instead of the letters. It was raining part of the time, and I am sure that those in the shelters were wondering what I was doing. I had a good time doing this one. Too bad some of the others are in construction zones right now.

I completed 5 Wherigos today. I used both an Oregon and a Droid X with WhereYouGo. The Droid froze at one point, so I completed with the Oregon. This was the hardest Wherigo of the day by far. I spent a half hour on the last part wandering all over the field, but I was determined to complete it. SL. Thanks for all the effort you put into these.

Fun whereigo cache. We did run into a slight problem that I think some others ran into also. Just had to wander around a bit to make it work.
