I go through Philomath 3 or 4 times a month. This day, I had the time to stop and play Philomath Maze. A great Wherigo. Really enjoyed. When I ht the first door, I was lost, I had not taken the suggestion in the cache description, so had to back to the car and get additional TOTT, and restart Philomath Maze, this time I was able to find what was needed and complete the maze. It took me about an hour. I used my iPhone and the cartridge played without any issues.

Fun cartridge. It ran well on my iPhone. The twists and turns of the maze kept it interesting. Just when I thought that I had it figured out, my assumptions where shown to be wrong. If you are going through Philomath, I recommend playing this cartridge.

Enjoyed exploring this maze. It was a very surreal experience, especially after looking at my track log uploaded to google earth.

w00t!! My first FTF on a WIG!!

I'm sure there's at least one particular cacher who'll be a bit depressed over this. But, hey.. he had 10 full days to act on it! Frankly, I can't believe this went as long as it did. Must not be many WIG fans down there. (I came down from PDX for this -somebody had to be first! )

There was a large group just breaking up when I arrived and while most of them left in short order, a couple of the stragglers noticed my evidently erratic behaviour and enquired as to what I was up to. I replied by informing them that I was a missionary from the Ministry of Silly Walks and they promptly left me alone to go about my business.

While I can't speak to the efficiency of the Wherigo engine in the Garmins ( I long ago learned to forego the frustrations of dealing with the frequent lockups and crashes and just go with PiGo player for iPhone), I can happily say that I had a very positive, glitch-free experience with the iPhone WIG app. Zones were nice and tight and there was no question as to when I was leaving one for another.

As to play time, I'd say the listed estimate is spot on. I did it largely in the dark and from start to finish was just over 90 minutes. I hit a couple of roadblocks that required time lost to rerouting but it was no fault of the cart -it was all me. However, had I been just the slightest bit smarter in my approach to this one, I could have easily shaved off a good 20 minutes. But there was a good bit of learn-as-you-go involved in this cart (at least for me) and that always seems to cost minutes here and there.

Very solid cart resulting in seamless play and a positive experience. Just heed the suggestions and give yourself plenty of time. Don't fool yourself into thinking you'll grab it on the way to/from work, or whilst out running errands -not going to happen that way!

Hats off to the CO for what had to be significant time and effort putting this one together. Thanks for the pathtag, too!
