A Wherigo cache about Scotland’s sacred stones. Can you find the hiding place of the true Stone of Destiny? Bring your GPS enabled device, your courage and wits - and a pen and paper - and seek your destiny.

About This Cartridge

'Destiny'
The co-ordinates shown on the cache page will take you to a place on the North Inch at Perth. From here you can see the grounds of the Palace of Scone. The Stone of Scone, also called the Stone of Destiny, is said to be the ancient crowning stone of Scotland’s kings. It has a long, troubled and mysterious history. Is the Stone which is now in Edinburgh Castle and which was long kept at Westminster the real Stone? Or was Edward I duped by the monks of Scone Abbey in 1296? If this is not the true Stone, then where is the genuine article?

Legend says that in each generation, some people are chosen to protect the secret of the true Stone of Destiny. They are known as the Moon-Runners or Moon-Runers. It is their duty to keep the true Stone safe, moving it to a new hiding place whenever it is threatened. They pass on their secret knowledge through the use of ancient runes.

I felt a little exhausted by all the walking up and down, but it is worth it and would appreciate it if there was another close by but, for me at least, the next nearer is over 45 miles away. I appreciate all the work that went into creating this cartridge by the team, as it was a worthwhile use of time. Doing the tutorial actually is nothing like it. Then at least, I was a little put off, but I just had to try the real deal and really enjoyed it! since I was in the area, I went and done some more traditional caches nearby before dragging myself home.

First Wherigo cache we have done, good fun.

Used the OpenWig player for the Android phone. Worked well until we got home and tried to find the unlock code again! Had to go look in the cartridge file to locate it, and chop of the last digit to make it just 15 characters.

Other than that all was good. Looking forward to doing more.

We really enjoyed the history in this cache and also the lovely walk along the river, our only problem is that when there was something we needed to translate, there was nothing.

I'm not sure what happened, but this thwarted us and we needed to contact the CO for info before we could proceed.

Returned and finished the cartridge the next day. Very enjoyable.

The wherigo itself was fine, although the Oregon did turn itself off once, but from previous experience I always save the cartridge after each correct answer so didn't lose any info.
Got all the answers and found the cache with Paradiddle - good camo.
Thanks for setting the Wherigo - we enjoyed the walk along the Tay. It is also the 15th Wherigo I have found.

I was part of the Wherewegoers a motley crew of cacher assembled for this challenge at the nearby CITO. A pleasant little stroll along the river in the drizzle with some good company. Great fun! T4TC!
