Welcome to the "New Zealand Bound" WIG. This WIG will walk you around this park and guide you to the final cache location in the end.

About This Cartridge

Along the walk you will be guided to several locations where you will need to correctly answer facts about the country of New Zealand. Total playing time should be approximately 30-45 minutes depending on your New Zealand Knowledge level. I hope you enjoy it and most of all, have fun!

Starting Location

Once you get to the starting point, further instructions will be provided.

This was a fun and enlightening WIG. Questions were tough and the cache was located right near a stolen bike that the current owner was not happy that I found hidden. Oh well.

This morning, I checked out of my hotel and headed out for several hours of caching (until I needed to head to the airport). I intended to go find this Wherigo and one other first before doing any other caching, but I accidentally got on H3 which sent me to the east side of the island. So, I changed my plan and started focusing on the ALOHA caches that we had solved before our last trip to Hawaii, but had not found yet. I drove counterclockwise around the island until I got to the west end. Then, I cut through the middle of the island to pick up one more ALOHA series cache and then back to this Wherigo that I thought I would have done hours earlier.

I was considering skipping this cache because I was not sure how long it would take me, and I did not want to push it too late to get to the airport and potentially miss my flight (or at the very least stress me out).

Ultimately, I decided to stop and try it. I had not done any homework on New Zealand, so I bounced back and forth between zone 1 and 2 over and over again. I nearly quit because I was afraid that it would take me hours of guessing to get though the cartridge. I exited the game briefly, and read some Wikipedia to try to make me smarter. Then I got back at it.

Once I got past zone 2, it was smooth sailing; I guess my on-site cramming paid off. Plus, I think the questions got slightly easier… slightly. When I got to the final, I accidentally clicked that I found the cache already and that I did not want a hint. But I really did want a hint… I started to frantically look around for the cache knowing that I had given up my opportunity for some help in locating it. Finally, after about 5 minutes (that I felt I could not spare), I spotted the container. I felt completely relieved.

The container had water in it, probably due to the lid not being snapped on all 4 corners. I dumped it out, signed the log (which was perfectly fine in its Ziploc baggie), and snapped the container all back together properly.

I did make it to the airport in time, but I was completely stresses… right up until the moment that I sat down at the gate with several minutes to spare.

Thanks for another Wherigo; I love these things and can’t get enough of them. The cartridges written by this cache owner are really good examples of what Wherigos should be like. Thanks for all the effort that you put into these.

I’ll give this a 5-star rating here on wherigo.com and a favorite point over on geocaching.com.
