About This Cartridge

The origin of the name “Urbandale” is not known. The Des Moines neighborhood now known as Beaverdale was originally known as “Urbandale”, and the street car line was known as the Urbandale Line. Early residents have said that the turnaround, originally known as “Walker Station” eventually became known as the “Urbandale Station”. The railroad/street car line owners had acquired 160 acres around the station and subdivided it into a plat called Urbandale on March 6, 1907, and the subsequent development became known as “Urbandale”. The original Urbandale neighborhood then adopted the Beaverdale name to distinguish itself from the new Urbandale development.

This tour will take your through 3 different parts of Urbandale's history.

Starting Location

Trolley Park

I've driven through the '515' quite a few times in the past, but I had no idea of this area's history.
Very nicely done.
This WIG ran flawlessly on my Garmin Oregon.

Came out to do a driving cache and this fit the bill. Most of the stops I had been to before, just never payed that much attention to the literature. As I came walking back from a walking portion, pocket redheads pulled up and shouted a hey. They too was working this whereIgo so we decided to venture on in a two car caravan. Even got to meet the male have of the team, I guess that's a rareity; pleasure meeting you tonight.

As we get to the final he goes and pulls a bloodlust on her and hands me the cache as we watch her look for a bit; glad it was him and not me that did that.

This is a nice historic tour of the city thanks Bucknuts.

2337th find. Wherigo number 8. 3rd Bucknuts cache of the day and 3rd type of the day too. I got the email and started the long arduous task of getting my computer out, starting it up and getting logged in to geocaching.com and wherigo.com and downloading the file and getting it onto my phone. That probably took ten minutes in itself. I got to the first stage and my whereigo worked pretty well. Then to the second stage and that went pretty well. Then to the third stage and the second question. That screwed me up and I had to restart and that took me back to stage two and I met Cookshome there. I think I startled him when I came up. I knew all the answers and we went to the third stage again. Got through that and on to the final. Kathy lived right across the street just before we got married. Found a nice, clean log. Thanks for the fun tonight. I really want to do some of these!

Signed log. Thanks for the cache!

FTF # 120!!!!!!!!

For sure getting a favorite, I love wherigos!
